Events
Scottish Heavy Events: Braemar & Open Stone, Heavy & Light Weight for Distance, Heavy & Light Hammer, WOB, Sheaf, and Caber will be contested this year for the usual QC games prizes of engraved daggers for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division.
Challenge Events
To get those who travel on the road sooner, we allow the flights to flow through the events at their own pace rather than using a fixed time schedule. This usually shortens the day on the athletic field and leaves some of our paying audience disappointed if not angry.
To provide a full day of athletic entertainment while still allowing some to leave after their flight ends, we will be having a challenge event to entertain the crowd after the Scottish Heavy events are completed.
-
Sheaf for Distance World Championship.
(throwing challenge)
The QC games is proud to host this dignified event. Both Men's and Women's divisions will be pursing this prestigious championship. Pro and amateur Sheaf for Distance throwers from around the world (or at least in the midwest) are expected to contest for this highly sought after championship.
Three Divisions will be contested for the engraved Weight for Distance Stone prize: Mens, Womens, and the combined Lightweight/Masters
Note: This is a Sheaf for Distance Federation (SFDF) sanctioned event and all SFDF rules will be followed.
Other Prizes-
"Best" Throwing Couple of the Day:
We will be giving an engraved stone away to the couple with the lowest combined place points. (the place point divided by total possible points points in flight summed together for each member of the couple). The prize will again be thistle stone. The thistle is an ancient national symbol of Scotland, an enduring symbol of the tenacity of Scottish national identity. Perhaps the motto that goes along with the thistle, "None Touch Me with Impunity", is why this stone is used for the best throwing couple prize!
-
Highest Standing WOB Throw Prize: There will be an extra prize given for the highest standing WOB throw. To qualify, you cannot spin for any of the WOB throws. A total of three prizes will be given out, one for each weight used in WOB (56#, 42#, & 28#) rather than one for each division.
- I AM putting a bounty of one bottle of Jamesion Irish Whiskey to the person who can break the field record in competition for standing 56 WOB as that is one of the longest standing records at QC games.
- I may put a bounty on the HWFD field record as that is the one that will be hard to break.
